Ruta-08 Camí de la Mola al Castellet

Brief description

If we take as a starting point the Casa del Cocó, we will have to follow Route R-7 to the vicinity of the old shooting range, where we take the fork to the left descending for what was the old road from Calp to Altea. Soon we reach the N-332, which we have to cross to take, to the right of the house that is right at the entrance of the urbanization Maryvilla, an asphalted road that ascends and surrounds the Casa de la Llora to continue climbing then by dirt track to the vicinity of the streets of the urbanization Mascarat. From there you come to the base of the rocky promontory through which we ascend by a steep path, which is equipped with rope to help us, climbing up to the same wall of the Castellet.

Points of interest

The path along which the route runs corresponds to a cattle road, an old main road before opening the tunnels of the road, which linked the town of Calpe with Altea, where the legendary bandit of the Mascarat was acting.

Ruins of an old watchtower and site of what was the old castle of Calp of the Islamic period, built in the 11th century or XII. We must highlight on the other hand the magnificent views that can be appreciated from the top of this promontory.
