The mural created by Elías Úrbez in 2000 is a work conceived as a tribute to the Moors and Christians festival in the town of Calp. It is a composition divided into two scenes that extends across the facades of two currently inhabited buildings, reinforcing its integration into the daily life of the municipality. The artist draws inspiration from classic illustrations of advertising posters and comic book covers, using a descriptive technique in which he superimposes figures and backgrounds in a collage-like fashion, creating an image rich in detail and meaning. The work depicts different historical and cultural aspects of these festivities, such as the miracle, the landing, the portrait of the founders, and the representation of the opposing sides in their formal attire. All of this is organized into a dynamic scene that combines tradition and visual narrative. Furthermore, the composition is dominated by the town of Calp itself and the emblematic silhouette of the Peñón de Ifach, which acts as an element of identity and a point of reference for the place, making the mural an artistic testament that unites history, culture, and landscape in a single visual space.
