The medical clinic in La Fossa de Calp has opened permanently, becoming a new, stable healthcare resource for the municipality. The center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and will serve the 1,300 patients assigned to this area, who will begin receiving care at this facility tomorrow.
The clinic has a doctor, a nurse, and a nursing assistant, and will provide healthcare to the assigned population. Patients have already been informed of the change by letter. This new resource will bring medical care closer to residents of the La Fossa area and, at the same time, help to alleviate the pressure on the main health center in the municipality.
The clinic has a medical examination room, a nursing consultation room, a patient observation room, a waiting room, and a staff break room. Basic ambulance support, which was already operating 12 hours a day, will also continue to be available at the clinic. However, lab tests and emergency care will continue to be provided at the town center health center.
Until now, these facilities had been used as an auxiliary clinic during periods of increased healthcare services, such as Easter and the summer months, when the town's population significantly rises. With this measure, the clinic becomes a permanent resource, and it is planned that another auxiliary summer clinic will also be opened during peak season to further strengthen healthcare services.
The official visit to the clinic was attended by the Mayor of Calp, Ana Sala; the Councilor for Health Protection, Itziar Doval; the Manager of the Dénia Health Department, Juan Puig; and the Director of Primary Care Nursing, Rosa Ferrándiz, along with healthcare professionals and technicians from the Calp health center.
Currently, Calp has 30,000 assigned SIP cards, an increase of 700 compared to the previous year. This increase in the registered population highlights the need to continue strengthening the municipality's healthcare resources.
The mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, stated that “our goal is to continue working towards Calp having a second health center, something that depends on the Regional Ministry of Health, but until that happens, we have this new resource that will improve healthcare for the residents of Calp.”
The Councilor for Health Protection, Itziar Doval, indicated that “we are working on the location for the new summer auxiliary care center to continue reinforcing healthcare during periods of peak population.”
