The lifeguard service on Calp's beaches, provided by the concessionary company Eulen, begins its new season next Monday. From March 30th to April 6th, lifeguard services will be available daily from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
At the start of this season, lifeguard services will cover La Fossa, Arenal-Bol, and Cantal Roig beaches, and the concessionary company will have 11 lifeguards and an ambulance service. From June 1st, the peak season, the service will be extended to Cala de la Calalga, Cala del Racó del Port, Cala del Morelló, and Puerto Blanco Beach.
The contract divides the service into low, mid, and high seasons, with different staffing levels for each. The service and staff are adapted to the needs of each season. The number of lifeguards, beach supervisors, ambulance drivers, boat captains, etc., varies depending on the season, reaching up to 32 people during peak season. The ambulance service must be provided year-round, and the rescue boat will operate during peak season.
From May 1st to 31st, service will be provided on weekends and during the May bank holiday weekend from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. During June and September, the hours are extended to daily service from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and in July and August from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Last year, the Calp City Council awarded the contract for lifeguard and rescue services, first-response transport, and assistance with supervised bathing on the beaches and coastline to EULEN S.A. for €3,146,185 for a period of four years.
