The traces of Iberian culture, although scarce in the municipality of Calp, stand out for their strategic importance, as corroborated by the findings documented on the slopes of Penyal d'Ifach and Partida de L'Empedrola.
In 1928, the search for Hemeroskopeion in Ifach by A. Schulten, Otto Jessen and Martínez y Martínez led to the discovery of the first Iberian materials, to which we must add the results of Father Belda in 1962 and 1965, and the excavation by Carmen Aranegui in the lower part of Ifach in 1975.
The watchtower of L'Empedrola from the first half of the 4th century BC, documented by Joaquín Bolufer in 1995 and the work in 2005 by ARPA PATRIMONIO, S.L. on the access road to the Interpretation Centre of the Natural Park, complete the historical reality of the Iberian world in the municipality.
