Calpe is preparing another year for the great cycling festival next Sunday, August 25th, with the arrival of the Vuelta a España.

On this occasion, the end of the second stage of the Spanish Tour, 199.6 kilometres between Benidorm and Calpe, will take place.

Cyclists reach Calpe via the Acceso Norte and follow Avenida Generalitat Valenciana, Ejércitos Españoles and Juan Carlos I towards Poble Nou de Benitatxell.

From there they return to Calpe, past the Avenida Juan Carlos I to Las Salinas, where the finish line is located.

There will be a top line-up again this year, as the participation of the winner of the Giro and Vuelta, Nairo Quintana and the current World Champion and winner of the Vuelta, Alejandro Valverde, has been confirmed among many others.

Calpe has hosted this event on previous occasions, the last time in 2016 when the penultimate stage, an individual time trial, finished here. This tour is a great promotion that will make it possible to promote the tourist attractions of the municipalities through which the tour passes, as the race will be broadcast in more than 150 countries.

To all this we must add that in recent years Calpe has become a destination chosen by professional teams in winter to prepare their season. They are attracted by the mild climate and the rich offer of hotels and thus help to reduce the dependence of the city of Calpe on summer tourism.
