Calpe Town Council will attend Madrid Fusion Food from Spain for the first time, the most important gastronomic congress in the world to be held from 29th to 31st January at Ifema (Madrid Exhibition Centre), and will do so with the chefs of the three Michelin-starred Calpe restaurants: Rafa Soler from Audrey`s Restaurant, Jose Manuel Miguel from Beat Restaurant and Andrea Drago from Orobianco Calpe.
The Town Hall has hosted a meeting to organise the presence of the municipality in this fair in which the chefs of the Calpe restaurants will carry out a "showcooking" in which the star product will be the "Peix de Calpe". The Fishermen's Guild, which has a special role to play in this initiative as part of the organisation's centenary celebrations, will provide the bay's own product.
The action, promoted by the Tourism, Economic Promotion and Fisheries Department, aims to raise awareness of the fact that Calpe is the municipality in Spain with the most Michelin-starred restaurants and at the same time to highlight the value of the destination's own product such as "Peix de Calp".
The chefs Rafa Soler and Jose Manuel Miguel, present at the meeting, have highlighted that "Calpe is the destination with more Michelin star restaurants per square meter" and at the same time they have pointed out the convenience of showing in Madrid Fusion the gastronomic star product of the municipality such as the fish of the Fishermen's Guild.
The Councillor for Economic Promotion, Paqui Solivelles, and the Councillor for Tourism Planning, Mireia Ripoll, have highlighted the efforts made by their councils to ensure that Calpe is present for the first time at Madrid Fusión, the epicentre of avant-garde and culinary excellence.
