The Mayor of Calp, Ana Sala, along with the Councillor for General Services, Álex Coca, visited the reconstruction works on the access road to the Balcón de Bernia residential complex this morning. The works, which were completed a few days ago, are now fully finished.
The project has restored normal access to this road, whose retaining wall collapsed as a result of the heavy rains in 2022, leaving the road completely unsupported and compromising the stability of the infrastructure. In the first phase, the Homeowners Association carried out the reconstruction of the reinforced concrete wall. However, the utility networks remained in a precarious state, with temporary installations exposed to the elements.
The works carried out by the City Council consisted of demolishing the pavement affected by the wall collapse, filling and compacting the ground, realigning the sidewalk curbs, and reinstalling the affected utilities. Subsequently, the subgrade base was laid, the road surface was paved, the sidewalks were reconstructed, and the corresponding road markings were installed.
The water supply network, which until now had been using a temporary system, was also renewed; a new drain was installed at the lowest point of the road to improve drainage in the area; and the underground low-voltage power line was laid.
The project was carried out by Vives Dalmau, S.A., with a contract budget of €190,271.
The mayor, Ana Sala, expressed her satisfaction with the completion of the works, which were "long awaited by the residents," emphasizing that "this project fully restores an access road that had been damaged by rain for several years, improving both the safety and the quality of the infrastructure and services in the residential area."
