Calp‘s town hall has taken another step forward in its aim to become a smart tourist destination. It has launched an app that will provide visitors with information about the most important tourist resources of the municipality in an interactive way.

This app, called ‘Calpe’, allows users to access tourist information via alerts on their mobiles as they walk around the town. This is possible thanks to the fact that the app is interconnected to a network of beacons, small devices based on bluetooth technology, which have been installed in emblematic tourist spots in the city and which will allow tourists who download it to receive an alert on their mobiles when they approach one of these devices. Once close enough to pick up the bluetooth signal, they will obtain information about where they are as well as the monuments or places in front of them and their surroundings.

The app also offers a planner that allows tourists to make their plans about what to visit as well as all the tourist resources offered by the locality. It is available on both Android and iOS and in six languages: Spanish, Valencian, English, French, German and Dutch.

A total of 75 beacons, have been installed throughout the municipality, linked to tourist points of interest. 25 beacons as well as the app are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union within the Edusi Strategy ‘Revitaliza Calp’ and the other 50 through a grant from Valencian Community Tourism.
